Car buyers will be wowed by a world first at the Glyn Hopkin Infiniti Centre St Albans this month, as the futuristic Infiniti Q60 premium sports coupé touches down boasting a unique ‘digital driving’ experience never before seen on a production car. Prospective customers can place their order for the Q60 now, with prices starting from £33,990.
Infiniti’s luxury high performance cars have been delighting buyers in North America for decades, and now the company is set to get UK buyers’ hearts racing with its latest cutting-edge coupé. Packed with clever technology, such as the swept-back LED headlights with an adaptive lighting system, the Q60 offers improved visibility at junctions and around corners by measuring steering inputs and turning the headlights accordingly.
The Infiniti Q60 handles and rides unlike any other car, with the world’s first pairing of ‘digital steering’ and ‘digital suspension’. The ‘steer-by-wire' Direct Adaptive Steering transmits driver inputs at the speed of electrons, rather than at the speed of a mechanical linkage. The steering system works together with the Dynamic Digital Suspension, which monitors the body roll, the pitch and bounce rate of the Q60 to deliver a smooth and secure ride. All of the clever electronics can be customised and combined to suit the driver’s preferences using Infiniti’s Drive Mode Selector.
Buyers won’t be left wanting for technology in the cabin either, with twin touchscreens – an 8.0-inch upper and 7.0-inch below – that make up the ‘InTouch’ control and infotainment system. In another world first, a bespoke 13-speaker Bose® audio system makes its first appearance in a production car, where it has been specially tailored to the acoustics of the cabin.
The Q60 takes care of remembering the driver’s favourite cabin setup – such as seating position or heating and ventilation – as well as steering and suspension preferences, storing up to 200 settings ready for the next journey on the intelligent ‘i-Key’. Infiniti’s cutting-edge mobile apps also allow the driver to access certain features remotely, such as downloading a vehicle health report, switching the lights on, or reviewing the built-in tracker that can send an alert if it senses a security problem.
Infiniti’s ‘flexible doorstop’ is another innovative feature, which is able to hold the door open in almost any position, making entry and exit even easier – especially in tight spaces. A full suite of safety technologies, including Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Blind Spot Intervention and Warning, and Lane Departure Warning, empowers the driver with security and confidence.
Fraser Cohen, Managing Director at Glyn Hopkin, commented, “Infiniti’s range of luxury high performance cars has been turning heads in St Albans ever since we opened the Infiniti Centre. Buyers absolutely love the expressive design and the technology-packed cabins, and the Q60’s ‘digital driving’ setup is a genuinely unique feature in modern automotive design. We can’t wait for the car to arrive and to demonstrate this incredible performance car innovation.”
At launch the Q60 comes with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 208hp and 258lb ft of torque. This engine emits 154g/km of CO2, yet is able to power the car from rest to 62mph in just 7.3 seconds. A powerful 400hp V6 will follow, boasting four-wheel drive and a 0-62mph time of just 5.0 seconds
