What is ULEZ?

ULEZ stands for ‘Ultra Low Emission Zone’, and it was introduced in April 2019 to help generate cleaner air in London. It’s in operation 24 hours a day, every day of the year (except Christmas Day).

Anyone driving a vehicle within the Zone that doesn’t meet ULEZ emission standards is required to pay a fee.

What areas are affected by ULEZ?

Currently, ULEZ covers all areas within the North and South Circular Roads (but not the actual roads themselves, the A406 and A205).

From 29 August 2023, ULEZ’s reach will expand to include all London boroughs.
