Visitors to the Electric Vehicle Experience Day at Bentwaters Park, Suffolk, on 8 June 2016 will be able to try out a range of high-tech electric cars from Glyn Hopkin’s Colchester dealerships.

The event has been organised by East Green Energy, a leading regional supplier of ‘green’ electricity and renewable energy equipment. Glyn Hopkin will be showcasing three electric vehicles on the day, including the zero-emissions Nissan LEAF and Nissan e-NV200 electric van, and the plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

Guests at the event will be able to take the cars out for a spin around a 1.2-mile closed circuit at the Bentwaters Park estate. Plug-in car experts from Glyn Hopkin will be on hand to answer customers’ questions about EVs, and some existing owners will be there to share their experiences of life with an electric car.

The Electric Vehicle Experience Day will be split into two sessions, with one running from 10am-1pm and the second from 1pm-4pm. Those interested must book their place on the day by visiting www.eastgreenenergy.co.uk and filling in the contact form.

The plug-in vehicles on display from Glyn Hopkin are among the nation’s favourites. In the Auto Express Driver Power satisfaction survey 2016, the Nissan LEAF was ranked 12th overall. Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is Britain’s best-selling plug-in electric vehicle, with more than 10,000 sold in the past year alone. The Nissan e-NV200 was named ‘Best Green Van’ in the 2015 What Van? Awards.

Nissan’s LEAF is the world’s best-selling electric car. The latest versions can travel up to 155 miles on a single charge, and its practical body style means it can comfortably accommodate five adults. Prices start from £179 per month, or £20,790, and it is eligible for the maximum Government discount of £4,500.

The Nissan e-NV200 electric van combines the drivetrain of the LEAF with the class-leading space of the standard NV200. It can accommodate a load of two Euro pallets with a capacity of up to 770kg, yet it costs just two pence per mile to run. Prices start at £199 per month, or from £21,391 before the Government’s Plug-In Van Grant.

For customers who regularly do longer journeys, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV offers a range of up to 541 miles, combining its electric battery with a 2.0-litre petrol engine. It can also drive for up to 32 miles on pure electric alone. Prices start from £299 per month, or £34,304, and it is eligible for a £2,500 discount from the Government scheme.
