Since its launch in 2010, the Nissan LEAF has lead the way for the Electric Vehicle (EV) market transforming the performance, practicality and public perception of EV’s around the world.
The 100-percent electric vehicle has just celebrated its fifth birthday and received the best present ever reaching 200,000 sales.
The Nissan LEAF is as advanced and innovative as it was five years ago with no other manufacturer matching their impressive figures. In fact, according to a five year sales-volume based assumption, Nissan is suggested to have helped keep 328,482 tons of CO from entering the air!
In addition to this, Nissan will be delivering its 200,000th LEAF this month, officially making it the world’s most popular and successful electric vehicle with worldwide achievement. However, the LEAF doesn’t stop there as it has also scooped more than 92 awards, including being named the Car of the Year in Japan and Europe, as well as winning the very prestigious World Car of the Year.
As the level of electric vehicle technology continues to increase, Nissan believes that this shift towards cleaner, more efficient zero emission vehicles will contribute greatly in improving air quality and lowering noise levels.
Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn said that EV technology will “continue at the heart of Nissan’s product development” and with these innovative technologies combined they are “moving closer to a zero-emission future for car transportation.”
