They say every picture tells a story………
The Nissan Qashqai SUV has become the first British-built vehicle to top the UK’s annual best-selling car rankings for 24 years.
Its enduring popularity has led it to the number one spot with a total sales figure of 42,704 for 2022.
December alone saw an impressive 3,506 models driven off dealership forecourts, reported the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Designed in Paddington, engineered in Cranfield and built in Sunderland, the Qashqai’s groundbreaking array of outstanding attributes has led it to become the ultimate choice when choosing a vehicle.
Back in 2007, the Nissan Qashqai pioneered the crossover with its blend of hatchback compactness and SUV practicality. Now it brings an award-winning presence to vehicle buying.
From its practicality and electrified powertrains, it truly represents value for money in a very superior package.
To celebrate the achievement, a gold-wrapped version of the Qashqai has been created to honour Nissan employees and dealer partners from around the UK that have continued to its success.
Andrew Humberstone, Managing Director of Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd, said: “This is a landmark moment for a landmark car and it’s great to see how the latest generation Qashqai has struck a chord with car buyers here in the UK.
“We are absolutely thrilled to see this car’s increasing success over the last 16 years, and it is a fitting tribute to the skills and talents of Nissan’s excellent design, engineering, production and sales teams all around the UK”.
Alan Johnson, Vice President of Manufacturing for Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK), added: “We’ve built three generations of the groundbreaking Qashqai in the north-east and it has become the mainstay of production here for 16 years.
“We are incredibly proud of its success and it’s great to see that our passion for building it is shared by car owners across the UK and Europe, who love its combination of practicality, exciting design, unique technology and electrified efficiency.”
