Nissan Unveils Inclusive Sports Documentary Dare to Defy on Prime Video

Nissan has launched a ground-breaking three-part documentary, Dare to Defy, available now on Prime Video in the UK, US, and Canada. Released on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the series explores the challenges faced by underrepresented communities in sport.

The documentary features Paralympic gold medallist Richard Whitehead MBE and broadcaster and LGBTQ+ advocate Adele Roberts. Together, they tackle stereotypes and highlight barriers in motorsport, football, and mass-participation running.

Richard and Adele aim to create a fully inclusive running event at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where Richard won gold at the 2012 Paralympics. Highlights include Richard working with Nissan’s Formula E Team and enabling disabled motorsport fan Abi Evans to drive an adapted electric race car. Meanwhile, Adele discusses inclusivity in football with players and Manchester City’s LGBTQ+ supporters’ group.

The series concludes with the Run to the Future event, which brings together 700 diverse participants in a fully accessible race.

This project is part of Nissan's Possibilities Project, supporting underrepresented groups, particularly in the disability and LGBTQ+ communities. Marketing Director Fiona Mackay said, "It's been fantastic to partner with Richard and Adele to bring Dare to Defy to life on Prime Video. We're proud to support underrepresented communities through the Nissan Possibilities Project, and this brilliant documentary series will help shine a light on the challenges they face, but also on the progress that's being made to break down barriers to participation in sport."

Dare to Defy is streaming now exclusively on Prime Video.
