Nissan has launched a bigger and more powerful diesel engine for its flagship X-Trail crossover. The 2.0-litre unit is available to order now, and first deliveries are due to arrive with customers at the beginning of 2017.
The exciting new engine has an output of 177PS, with 380Nm of torque providing impressive pulling power throughout the rev range. It’s a significant step up in power from the existing 1.6-litre 130PS diesel, and without a doubt meets the needs of consumers who require a higher-output powertrain.
New to the range is the option of Nissan Xtronic automatic gearbox, paired with a four-wheel drive transmission. These choices further broaden Nissan’s presence in the large SUV sector, and enhance the appeal of the much-loved X-Trail.
With the new 2.0-litre engine, the X-Trail is the perfect companion for families seeking even bigger adventures. With the choice of five or seven seats, excellent luggage space, clever storage solutions and more than towing capacity to meet customers’ needs it really does tick all the right boxes.
Guillaume Cartier, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Nissan Europe, said: “The new flagship Nissan X-Trail is a crossover that’s focused on delivering what consumers need. Offering 4WD linked to an automatic transmission for the first time, it’s a significant enhancement to the already strong X-Trail range. It’s also a compelling upgrade to our already successful 1.6-litre diesel model.”
