Glyn Hopkin’s oldest customer drives away his sixth Nissan Micra from Watford dealership

At 94 years old, Richard Burgess is arguably Glyn Hopkin’s oldest customer. Having purchased his sixth Nissan Micra from Glyn Hopkin Nissan Watford, Mr Burgess has just passed his test to retain his driving licence for another three years.

When he was 70, Richard visited his local showroom in Watford looking for a comfortable and affordable run-around that would also enable him to get to his sister’s house in Wales at the weekends. He fell in love with the Nissan Micra, replacing it every three years since.

Richard estimates he has travelled over 100,000 miles in his Nissan Micras over 24 years, and it has given him the freedom and independence to visit family across the country. A lover of country walks, but now finding the longer travels more difficult, he has found his Nissan is perfect to get him to the local walking spots in Hertfordshire.

Richard Burgess said, “I have very fond memories of buying my different Micras from Glyn Hopkin over the years and I have always felt welcomed by the friendly team there.

“The Micra has always been good to me and at my age I am not at a point where I can be learning new tricks in different cars. I’ve always enjoyed my Nissan so I have not had the need to change it, although now I tend to choose silver as it doesn’t need cleaning very often.”

Fraser Cohen, Managing Director at Glyn Hopkin said “We pride ourselves on our service and the long standing relationships it builds with our customers. I’m overjoyed to hear Mr Burgess has such good memories with us.”

Since its introduction in 1982 there have been four generations of the Nissan Micra. Bringing innovative technologies and design to the compact segment, the Micra has helped propel Nissan to its current position as the UK’s fourth highest-selling brand. It still remains the fun and reliable small vehicle that appeals to people like Mr Burgess.
