All-new Nissan Qashqai reclaims best-selling UK crossover crown

Try as you might, you cannot keep a best-selling vehicle at bay.

Not one, but two iconic Nissan models have topped the charts and recorded healthy sales figures for the month of September.

The All-New Nissan Qashqai has already seen a very successful summer launch. As if that were not enough, September saw it being the UK’s best-selling crossover, according to figures just released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

The third generation of Nissan’s trailblazer recorded a healthy 4,108 new Nissans sold during the month.

Not only that, but the Nissan Qashqai was also the fifth best-selling model in the UK overall, helping Nissan record a 4.3% market share.

The all-electric LEAF, not wanting to let the Qashqai have all the glory, saw a total of 1,066 models being registered and a total of 6,156 Nissan LEAFs have been registered in the calendar year to date, representing a 10 percent increase on the figure for the same time in 2020.

Furthermore, September saw the best month ever for new battery electric vehicle uptake, according to SMMT, with almost 1 in 10 (9.5%) of cars sold in the UK being battery electric vehicles. This is a real nod in favour of consumers embracing the switch to zero-tailpipe emission motoring.

Other cars in the Nissan range also performed strongly during September, with registrations of the Juke currently running at + 14 percent up on last year, (15,405 registrations year to date) and Micra up + 4%, (5,429 registrations year to date).
