Air conditioning systems contain PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol) oils. This oil lubricates all the moving parts and provides a waxy coat for the air conditioning pipes to reduce evaporation and escape of gas.
They also lubricate and reduce the wear of moving components and attract moisture, and clear the windscreen efficiently throughout the winter.
Naturally, through usage during the winter and summer seasons, the sealed system escapes 10-15% of the vehicle’s air condition gas annually. Not using the air conditioning system can also be detrimental.
The system relies on lubrication and the flow of gases. Customers who rarely use the system risk porous seals (which can cause leaks) and the attraction of bacteria which can produce harmful spores.
It is beneficial to use air conditioning all year round.
