Today sees the launch of the all-new Nissan LEAF – a British-built icon in electric motoring.
Now in its third generation, the LEAF continues to lead Nissan’s electrification journey with a striking new design, extended range, and smart, user-friendly technology for the modern driver.
Designed to overcome key EV concerns, the latest LEAF now offers a range of up to 375 miles on a single charge and rapid charging capability – adding up to 260 miles in just 30 minutes. A host of advanced features also make driving and ownership more convenient and enjoyable.
Since first hitting the roads in 2010, nearly 700,000 LEAFs have been sold worldwide, cementing its place as the world’s first mainstream electric car. This latest model marks a bold new chapter, reimagined to meet the needs of today’s EV drivers while staying true to its pioneering spirit.
Arnaud Charpentier, Nissan’s VP for Marketing & Mobility in the AMIEO region, commented:
“With the all-new LEAF, we’re offering a car that combines sleek design, confidence, and impressive range – a true showcase of Nissan innovation.”
Styled at Nissan’s Global Design Studio in Japan, the new LEAF features a sleek, aerodynamic shape with a drag coefficient of just 0.25. Details like flush door handles, a flowing roofline, and underbody panels enhance efficiency, while signature lighting at the front and rear gives it a high-tech, modern look on the road.
Though compact on the outside – perfect for city driving and tight spaces – the all-new Nissan LEAF boasts a roomy interior tailored to modern family life, whether it’s the school run, commute, or weekend getaway.
With 437 litres of boot space and a flexible cargo layout, the LEAF offers practicality without compromise. A power liftgate makes loading easier, and selected versions come with roof rails for extra carrying options.
Every detail is thoughtfully designed – from the panoramic dimming glass roof with bespoke LEAF detailing to sculpted 3D rear lights and premium materials throughout. Inside, a clean, ergonomic layout with enhanced visibility and ambient lighting creates a refined, comfortable cabin.
The new LEAF is available in seven bold exterior colours, including the signature Luminous Teal, with interior trims in black or white, finished with subtle purple accents.
Every version of the new Nissan LEAF features aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels, including 18-inch alloys with 195 tyres on entry-level models, wider 215s on mid-grade, and 19-inch wheels with 235/45R19 tyres on top-spec variants. The 18-inch design subtly incorporates a ‘Ni-San’ pattern, echoing the 3D effect seen in the rear lamps.
“We’ve given the all-new LEAF a bold, modern look with clear Nissan DNA,” said Giovanny Arroba, Vice President of Nissan Design Europe. “Its sleek profile, signature lighting, and crafted interior reflect what today’s European EV drivers truly value – both in function and design.”
Built for flexibility and confidence, the LEAF offers two battery choices, each delivering impressive range and usability. With fast charging of up to 150kW, it can add up to 260 miles in just 30 minutes (pending final certification). On the motorway, it delivers over 205 miles at 130km/h, making 500-mile journeys achievable with little extra time compared to petrol cars.
Its spacious cabin and advanced battery technology make it ideal as a primary family vehicle – just as suited to everyday errands as it is to long-distance drives.
Smart thermal battery management ensures consistent, quick charging in all conditions. Working with the integrated Google Maps route planner, the system even preconditions the battery when nearing a fast charger – helping reduce wait times and maximise efficiency.
With Google built-in, the new LEAF takes the stress out of long trips by automatically mapping out charging stops along your route. Twin 14.3” displays offer seamless access to Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store, with voice control for navigation, climate, and media. Drivers can also sync apps and access vehicle info remotely via the NissanConnect Services app.
The LEAF’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability allows you to power everyday items – like a kettle or camping gear – directly from the car, with up to 3.6kW via an optional adaptor. It’s also future-ready with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) compatibility, giving drivers the potential to send energy back to the grid, helping cut home energy costs and support a cleaner energy future.
Clíodhna Lyons, Nissan’s VP for Product and Services Planning, said:
“The new LEAF is smarter, more capable, and more connected – designed to fit effortlessly into everyday life.”
Built on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform, shared with the Ariya, the new LEAF combines strong performance with exceptional ride comfort. Features include:
The LEAF also includes a BOSE® Personal® Plus audio system with a driver’s headrest speaker for voice guidance, allowing passengers to enjoy music uninterrupted. Over-the-air updates and deep mobile integration keep the tech experience fresh and future-proof.
Manufactured at Nissan’s Sunderland plant as part of the EV36Zero project, the LEAF supports a zero-emission, locally-sourced EV ecosystem. Tuning and development have been carried out in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, to suit European roads and drivers.
