Nissan - Electrified Future with Exciting New Models

Nissan is charging ahead with its electrified vehicle strategy, unveiling plans for two brand-new electric models set to launch in 2025, with a third on the horizon. Additionally, one of the brand’s most innovative technologies is receiving a significant upgrade.

Sunderland Plant Prepares for Next-Gen LEAF Production

Britain’s largest car manufacturing facility in Sunderland is gearing up to produce the third-generation Nissan LEAF, a pioneering electric vehicle that has helped shape the EV revolution. The first models are expected to roll off the production line later this year, marking a new era for the iconic nameplate.

The European version of the next-gen LEAF will be built on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform, which it shares with the larger Nissan ARIYA. The Sunderland production facility remains at the heart of Nissan’s EV36Zero project—an ambitious initiative that integrates electric vehicle manufacturing with renewable energy and battery production, solidifying the UK’s position as a key player in the future of EVs.

Qashqai’s e-POWER Technology Gets an Upgrade

One of the UK’s best-selling vehicles, the Nissan Qashqai, is set to benefit from an enhanced version of Nissan’s innovative e-POWER technology. Originally launched in 2022, e-POWER provides a driving experience akin to a full EV, without the need for external charging. With nearly 250,000 e-POWER-equipped vehicles sold across Europe, Nissan is refining the system to deliver even better efficiency, lower emissions, and a smoother drive.

The Micra Returns as a Fully Electric Hatchback

2025 will also see the highly anticipated return of the Micra, this time as a fully electric vehicle. Designed at Nissan Design Europe in London, the new Micra maintains the bold styling and compact versatility that has made it a favourite over the years.

Built on the AmpR Small platform, shared with Renault’s upcoming R5, the electric Micra will offer two battery options—40kWh and 52kWh—delivering an impressive range of over 248 miles. Production will take place at the Ampere ElectriCity plant in Douai, France, with sales set to begin before the end of the year.

JUKE to Go Fully Electric in FY2026

Looking beyond 2025, Nissan has confirmed that the next-generation JUKE will make its debut in FY2026 as a pure EV. Inspired by the striking Hyper Punk concept unveiled at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, the new JUKE will continue to set the benchmark in the compact crossover segment while embracing Nissan’s electrification strategy.

Exciting Times Ahead for Nissan

With an electrified Micra, an all-new LEAF, an upgraded Qashqai, and a fully electric JUKE on the way, Nissan is reaffirming its commitment to an electrified future. Stay tuned for further updates as Nissan continues to drive innovation in the EV space.
