Fiat has debuted the all-new Fiat Tipo hatchback and estate at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show which joins the Tipo Saloon. The new Tipo body styles share the same principles of outstanding roominess, specification, quality and efficiency combined in a stylish package with an edge of elegant Italian flair that belies its impressive affordability.
Capable of accommodating three six-feet plus adult passengers in the rear, the new Fiat Tipo hatchback provides exceptional roominess thanks to class-leading leg room and headroom. Boot space is also best-in-class with a volume of up to 440-litres, with the estate version adding an extra 110-lites of boot-space. In addition, this smartly engineered boot can carry loads of up to 1.8m in length thanks to an extra 20cm of length, flip-and-fold 60/40 split rear seats and completely flat load floor.
Not stopping there, the boot of the estate is also aided by a low load sill with reconfigurable components such as adjustable floor and removable side storage panels to further expand the width of the luggage compartment. Adding further convenience are two lights, two bag hooks and four load-retaining hooks positioned on the floor.
Handy compartments inside the cabin provide further storage for passengers with a variety of shapes and capacities that equal no less than 12-litres. In easy reach of drivers and passengers these practical compartments are ideal for storing personal objects, smartphones, game condoles, bottles, coins and much more, including a USB port for charging and connecting devices. Convenient arrangement of the secondary controls allows the driver to maintain their eyes on the road at all times.
Both the Fiat Tipo hatchback and estate will be available in three trim levels with air conditioning, remote central locking, rear electric windows (estate only), electric mirrors, six airbags, DAB digital radio and Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel remote controls fitted as standard on all versions.
Five engines will be available which will comprise of two diesel and three petrol engines. For the diesel there will be two turbo engines – a 1.3-litre MultiJet II producing 95hp and 200Nm and a 1.6-litre MultiJet 11 with an output of 120hp and 320Nm, while the petrol engine range will consist of a 1.-4-lite 16v producing 95hp and 125Nm, a 1.4-litre turbo petrol with 120hp and 260Nm and a 1.6-litre e-TorQ engine producing 110hp and 152Nm.
For remarkable fuel efficiency and low emissions the 1.6-litre diesel engine is a good choice returning 76.3mpg and producing just 98g/km of CO2 emissions. In addition, this engine can also be combines with a six-speed TCT twin-clutch transmission.
The Fiat Tipo hatchback and estate will go on sale in the UK in September with pricing and range to be announced closer to the UK launch date.
