The Dacia Duster Commercial 4x4 has won ‘Best 4x4 Van’ at the 2016 What Van? Awards, at a ceremony held in London.
Based on the popular Duster SUV and launched at the 2015 Commercial Vehicle Show, the competent crossover was complimented by judges for its off-road capability, driving style and value for money. Despite being based around the road-going version of the Dacia Duster, the Commercial 4x4 benefits from the same tax advantages of light commercial vehicles, making it even more affordable to own and run.
Paul Barker, Editor, What Van? said: “The arrival of the Dacia Duster commercial has given this niche area of the market a new, interesting and well-priced alternative that offers something unique in the marketplace.” He further went on to say that the capable crossover offers a “simple, well-driving and good value proposition” and is a “sensible and welcome addition to the UK’s light commercial vehicle sector.”
Louise O’Sullivan, Head of Dacia UK delightfully collected the award and said that the Duster Commercial 4x4 “provides a no-nonsense solution to businesses looking for an affordable, reliable vehicle that’s also capable of heading off-road when needed.” It is evident that the model has become a popular hit since its launch in 2013 as well, becoming the “most successful new car brand launch ever in the UK.”
The Duster Commercial 4x4 is available in two different trim levels – Ambiance and Lauréate, and comes with a generous array of standard features including Bluetooth connectivity, electric front windows and a heated rear screen. Higher spec Lauréate also adds cruise control, leather steering wheel, alloy wheels and electric heated wing mirrors for some extra sophistication. There is also the choice of steel or mesh bulkheads between the passenger and cargo areas and privacy film for the tailgate window and mudguards.
The Duster Commerical is powered by Renault’s best-selling diesel powertrain – the dCi 110 unit, either as a 4x2 or a tough, go-anywhere 4x4. The 4x3 dCi 110 returns up to 56.5mpg, with CO2 emissions as low as 130g/km, while the 4x4 dCi returns up to 54.3mpg, with CO2 emissions as low as 137g/km.
The What Van? Awards are judged by a skilled editorial panel of What Car? Magazine, who have decades of experience between them in the light commercial vehicle industry. The Awards seek to highlight the best products, companies and services in the industry based on a number of important factors.
