Suzuki Swift Hybrid Review

The all-new Fourth Generation Swift Hybrid is set to hit the UK markets in April 2024, boasting a blend of familiar yet enhanced exterior and interior designs. This iteration offers an elevated standard equipment specification, improved performance, lower CO2 emissions, and superior fuel economy compared to its predecessors.

Under the bonnet, the Swift Hybrid features the new Z12E 1.2-litre Mild Hybrid three-cylinder engine, promising up to an 8% enhancement in fuel efficiency over the previous K12D engine. With CO2 emissions reduced to just 99g/km and a combined fuel consumption of 64.2mpg for the Motion model with manual transmission, it sets a benchmark in its class.

Equipped with Suzuki's upgraded and lightweight 12V Mild Hybrid system as a standard feature, the new Swift maintains its compact dimensions, reinforcing Suzuki's reputation as small car experts. Available in a streamlined two-model line up comprising Motion and Ultra grades, the Motion grade, with its high specification, is anticipated to be the top seller. Noteworthy features of the Motion grade include LED headlights, a 9-inch media display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Adaptive Cruise Control. heated front seats, and more.

For those seeking versatility, the CVT gearbox is available as optional equipment on both models, ensuring an excellent combined fuel consumption figure of 60.1mpg. Additionally, Suzuki's renowned 'HEARTECT' lightweight platform strategy contributes to the Swift's agility, with a kerb weight as low as 949kg for the Motion grade with manual transmission.

Looking ahead, an optional ALLGRIP 'Auto' 4WD will be introduced on the Ultra model with manual transmission later in the year, further expanding the Swift's capabilities. As a testament to its global appeal, the Swift has garnered more than nine million sales across 119 countries since its introduction in 2004, coinciding with Suzuki GB's 40th anniversary of Swift celebrations.

Manufactured at the Sagara plant in Japan for the UK, Ireland, and the rest of Europe, the Swift comes with Suzuki Connect connected services offered free of charge for three years from the vehicle registration date. Additionally, a Service Activated Warranty is provided free of charge after the manufacturer's warranty expires, extending coverage until the car reaches seven years or 100,000 miles.
