Suzuki has just made an electrifying debut into the world of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) with the unveiling of their very first BEV, the e VITARA. Revealed in the style capital of Milan, Italy, this SUV isn’t just about getting from A to B – it’s about driving excitement, style, and sustainability.
Starting in Spring 2025, production of the e VITARA will kick off at Suzuki Motor Gujarat in India, and by summer, Suzuki fans in Europe, India, Japan, and beyond can look forward to driving this game-changing electric SUV.
The e VITARA was inspired by Suzuki’s eye-catching eVX concept model, first revealed at the Auto Expo in India and later showcased at the Japan Mobility Show in 2023. It’s Suzuki’s first global BEV model - and it’s designed to turn heads with its powerful, high-tech, and adventurous spirit.
More than just an electric car, the e VITARA is crafted around the concept of an "Emotional Versatile Cruiser." What does that mean? Think high-tech meets rugged power. The e VITARA’s design is all about blending the sleek, advanced feel of a modern electric vehicle with the strength and robustness of an SUV. Suzuki calls it the High-Tech & Adventure theme, and you’ll see it in every detail – from its large-diameter tires and long wheelbase to the tough, tech-integrated interior. Inside, you’ll find an advanced display and ruggedly styled panels that hint at this SUV’s adventurous spirit.
Suzuki equipped the e VITARA with a powerful eAxle, combining the motor and inverter into one streamlined unit for ultra-efficient performance. Powered by lithium iron-phosphate batteries, this setup promises quick, nimble acceleration and sharp power delivery for smooth overtakes and seamless driving in any situation.
Suzuki’s legendary four-wheel-drive technology just got an electric upgrade with ALLGRIP-e. Featuring two independent eAxles at the front and rear, this electric 4WD system offers exceptional control, responsiveness, and power. The added Trail mode even helps you navigate tricky terrain by intelligently distributing power and braking force to help you smoothly escape rough patches.
The e VITARA is constructed on a newly developed BEV-specific platform called HEARTECT-e, which is designed for both durability and comfort. This platform not only supports high-voltage protection for safety but also offers more interior space for a roomy, comfortable ride. Plus, the platform’s structure makes room for a larger battery, so you can focus on the journey ahead without worrying about frequent recharges.
President Suzuki shared his vision for the e VITARA as more than just a vehicle but a meaningful step toward a carbon-neutral future. "The e VITARA is our first BEV, developed through repeated trial and error to create an easy-to-use BEV for our customers. In order to realize a carbon- neutral society, we will provide a variety of options, including BEVs, hybrid vehicles, and CNG vehicles, tailored to specific regions. Introduction of the e VITARA represents a significant milestone in achieving carbon neutrality. Following the launch of the e VITARA, we will continue to expand our BEV line- up and propose mobility solutions tailored to the needs of specific countries and regions."
