Introducing the all-new MG ZS Hybrid+, a compact SUV that blends cutting-edge hybrid technology with outstanding value. Priced from just £21,995, this model undercuts rivals like the Ford Puma by nearly £4,000, making it a compelling choice for those seeking an affordable yet sophisticated SUV.
This new model, which is offered initially with the Hybrid+ powertrain, shares its award-winning engine technology with the award-winning MG3 Hybrid+. The hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering an impressive 193bhp. Of that, 134bhp is provided by the e-motor, along with 250Nm of torque, allowing the ZS Hybrid+ to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 8.7 seconds.
A key feature of the ZS Hybrid+ is its 1.83kWh battery, which enables short bursts of pure-electric driving. This not only enhances fuel efficiency, achieving up to 55.4mpg, but also keeps CO2 emissions low at just 115g/km. The battery is recharged through regenerative braking and the petrol engine, eliminating the need for plug-in charging.
In terms of design, the new MG ZS takes inspiration from its siblings, the MG3 supermini and MG HS mid-size SUV. It boasts a bold front grille, with sleek air intakes either side, and features full LED lighting both front and rear. The octagonal MG badge remains a prominent, complemented by a skid plate-style element on the lower bumper.
The interior of the ZS Hybrid+ is equally impressive, offering a spacious 443-litre boot—still larger than competitors like the Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008 despite being slightly smaller than the previous model. With the rear seats folded, the total load capacity expands to 1,457 litres.
Customers can choose between SE and Trophy trims. The SE trim comes equipped with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, complete with built-in sat-nav, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a seven-inch digital instrument display, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, and keyless entry. Opting for the Trophy trim, available for an additional £2,500, adds luxurious features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, a 360-degree surround-view camera, heated front seats and steering wheel, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, and leather-effect upholstery.
As with all MG models, the ZS Hybrid+ comes with a seven-year/80,000-mile warranty and includes the advanced ‘MG Pilot’ safety suite. This comprehensive system includes active emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane-keeping assist, and traffic jam assist, ensuring peace of mind on every journey.
