All-New BYD SHARK Brings Super Hybrid Power to the UK Pickup Market

The all-new BYD SHARK is ready to redefine the UK pickup market, combining serious load-carrying and off-road ability with powerful plug-in hybrid performance, advanced technology and SUV-like comfort.

As BYD’s first pickup, the five-seat double cab introduces the brand’s Super Hybrid DMO technology to a completely new type of vehicle. With all-wheel drive, up to 55.9 miles of pure-electric driving and a 2,500kg towing capacity, the SHARK has been designed for demanding working days, active lifestyles and everyday journeys.

Available from £47,290 including VAT, orders for the BYD SHARK are now open, with the first UK deliveries expected during Q4 2026.

Electrified performance without compromise

The BYD SHARK is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors—one mounted on each axle. Together, the system produces 436PS and 650Nm of torque, allowing the SHARK to accelerate from 0–62mph in just 5.7 seconds. Intelligent all-wheel drive manages the power across different surfaces, with dedicated settings for sand, mud, snow and gravel.

Double-wishbone suspension at both the front and rear helps provide a comfortable, SUV-like ride while retaining the control and durability needed for more challenging terrain.

Up to 55.9 miles of electric driving

At the centre of the SHARK’s DMO powertrain is a 32.2kWh BYD Blade Battery. It provides up to 55.9 miles of WLTP electric range, allowing many shorter journeys to be completed using electric power alone. With a fully charged battery and a full tank of petrol, the SHARK offers a combined driving range of up to 419 miles.

The battery supports 11kW AC charging and 55kW DC charging. Using a suitable rapid charger, it can be replenished from 30–80% in approximately 21 minutes.

Built to work and explore

The SHARK offers more than impressive performance. Its 1,200-litre load bed, maximum payload of 790kg and braked towing capacity of 2,500kg make it suitable for carrying equipment, transporting materials or heading away with bikes, camping gear and trailers.

A ladder-frame chassis provides the strength and durability expected from a capable pickup, while 230mm of unladen ground clearance and short front and rear overhangs support its off-road ability.

Vehicle-to-Load technology adds another layer of practicality. The SHARK can supply up to 6.6kW of power to external equipment through two sockets, allowing owners to run tools, appliances or outdoor equipment directly from the vehicle.

The Comfort and Technology of a premium SUV

Inside, the BYD SHARK feels closer to a well-equipped family SUV than a conventional work vehicle.

The five-seat cabin includes heated and ventilated front seats, vegan-leather upholstery and a flat rear floor that provides generous space for passengers. A 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen is joined by a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a head-up display.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, 50W wireless phone charging and remote cabin controls through the BYD app are all included.

Drivers also benefit from front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and an extensive suite of driver-assistance technology.
