BYD has reached a major milestone in the UK, surpassing 100,000 vehicle registrations just over three years after the brand first entered the market.
The achievement underlines the rapid rise of BYD in the UK and the growing number of drivers choosing its fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Having launched here with the BYD ATTO 3 in March 2023, the brand has expanded at remarkable speed, developing from one model and five retail partners into a 10-model line-up supported by 143 retail locations nationwide.
BYD's momentum has continued to accelerate throughout 2026. Of the first 100,000 UK registrations, 37,995 were recorded during the opening six months of this year alone – more than a third of the total achieved since launch.
This growth reflects an increasingly diverse range designed to meet the needs of different UK drivers. From compact electric cars and refined saloons to practical SUVs and advanced plug-in hybrids, BYD has broadened its offering while continuing to make innovative new-energy technology more accessible.
Marking the occasion, Bono Ge, Country Manager for BYD UK, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the 100,000 BYD owners who have placed their trust in us.”
The milestone is also a thank-you to the families, retail partners and teams who have supported BYD's UK journey so far. For the brand, however, reaching 100,000 vehicles is not the finish line – it is the foundation for its next stage of growth.
BYD is preparing to expand its UK range further with several exciting new arrivals. These include the BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i plug-in hybrid hatchback, the BYD SHARK plug-in hybrid pick-up and the spacious BYD Ti 7 family SUV.
The company's premium DENZA brand is also set to bring models including the Z, D9, BAO 5 and Z9 GT to the UK, widening the choice available to customers at the luxury end of the market.
Alongside new vehicles, BYD is continuing to invest in technology. Its forthcoming FLASH Charging system has been developed to make ultra-fast electric vehicle charging quicker and more convenient, pointing towards the next generation of electric mobility.
