For the entry rear-wheel-drive versions, the BYD SEAL Design offers the longer official range: up to 354 miles WLTP compared with 332 miles for the Tesla Model 3 RWD.
The BYD SEAL uses an 82.5kWh Blade Battery and supports DC rapid charging at up to 150kW, taking around 37 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% in suitable conditions. The Model 3 RWD can charge at up to 175kW and Tesla claims up to 168 miles of range can be added in 15 minutes. Tesla also benefits from close integration with its Supercharger network, while the SEAL can use the wide range of compatible CCS public chargers across the UK.
The rear-wheel-drive BYD SEAL Design produces 308bhp and reaches 62mph in 5.9 seconds. The SEAL Excellence adds dual-motor all-wheel drive, 523bhp and semi-adaptive suspension, reducing the 0–62mph time to just 3.8 seconds.
Tesla offers an even quicker range-topping Model 3 Performance, which completes 0–60mph in a claimed 2.9 seconds. For everyday driving, however, both model ranges deliver the immediate response, quiet operation and smooth acceleration expected from a modern electric car.
The Model 3 is known for its minimalist cabin, central touchscreen and tightly integrated software, navigation and charging experience. The BYD SEAL offers a more conventional driver-focused layout, combining a 15.6-inch touchscreen with a separate 10.25-inch digital instrument display.

Tesla provides a four-year or 60,000-mile basic vehicle warranty. The Model 3 RWD battery and drive unit are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, including minimum 70% battery-capacity retention during the warranty period. Longer-range versions receive a higher mileage limit.
