The All-New Renault Megane E-Tech Electric is coming soon to Glyn Hopkin.
When it comes to safety, the forthcoming, All-New Renault Megane E-Tech Electric will be a very tough act to follow.
Launching in the fourth quarter of 2022, the All-New Renault Megane E-Tech has been awarded the maximum 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.
Beneath its exceptionally stiff body structure are a whole raft of class-leading safety attributes that have all contributed to its safety success rating.
It scored 85 percent for adult occupant protection, 88 percent on child occupant protection, 65 percent for vulnerable road users and 79 percent for safety assist.
A total of 26 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), saw it achieve its high mark for safety.
The ADAS features are divided into three categories: driving, parking and safety. Standout additions are Active Driver Assist, which is now classed as Level 2 vehicle autonomy, combining contextual adaptive cruise control with “Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist and Rear Automatic Emergency Braking, an automatic emergency braking system that activates when the driver is reversing. The system initially provides a visual and audible warning with the brakes being automatically applied should the driver not react.
Other contributing factors to the All-New Renault Megane E-Tech Electric’s safety are a smart speed limiter which uses a front camera and navigation system to determine the current speed limit as quickly as possible and adjusts the speed limiter, cruise control or adaptive cruise control to suit. Occupant Safe Exit (OSE), further helps by warning an occupant of any approaching vehicle, motorcycle or cyclist as they open the door.
Taking it one step further, the front of the vehicle will also feature a QR code affixed to the windscreen, which in the event of an accident can by quickly scanned by rescue teams to reveal the location of the car’s battery and airbags, (of which there will be seven fitted), for quick, precise and risk-free cutting. The inclusion of the QR code can save a very valuable 15 minutes on the time it takes to extract an occupant in the event of any collision.
As the first of a new generation of electric vehicles to benefit from the advanced CMF-EV electric car platform, the All-New Megane E-Tech Electric blends increased efficiency and range with optimum safety. The model will be available with two battery options: 40kWh for a range of up to 186 miles (WLTP) and a 60kWh for up to 292 miles of range (WLTP). AC 22 and DC charging up to 130kW are standard, achieving faster charging and up to 186 miles in just 30 minutes.
