Mitsubishi provides stars of Gloucester Rugby with their perfect match

As part of their new partnership with the company, five of Mitsubishi’s Brand Ambassadors picked up their new vehicles at Kingsholm Stadium. Opting for the new Outlander PHEV were England internationals Ben Morgan and Jonny May, while Scotland Captain Greig Laidlaw and Wales hooker Richard Hibbard decided on the new L200 Series 5 pick-up with James Hook going for the iconic Shogun.

With its 32-mile pure-electric range and efficient petrol engine it’s no wonder the Outlander PHEV has become the UK’s most popular plug-in hybrid electrical vehicle. Johnny May explained that he chose the PHEV because he “liked the look” and because it’s “environmentally friendly." He further went on to explain that with the training ground only being 10 minutes away, most of his driving will be done in electric mode and thereby saving him a lot of money on fuel.

Scotland captain and Gloucester scrum half Greig Laidlaw, who opted for the award-winning L200 Series 5 said that the vehicle “looked lovely” and is a great choice for his family as they can just “fill the back up and save having the mess in the car”.

Mitsubiushi Motors in the UK became the main partner of Cherry and Whites in July 2015. The three-year agreement means that the famous three diamond Mitsubishi logo can be seen significantly around the stadium, including on the club’s playing and training shirts and replica wear.

The company had been a sponsor of Gloucester Rugby for eight years, but the new partnership represents further commitment to the club, at a time where the Mitsubishi brand presence is rising rapidly in the UK.
