ALPINE ENTERS FORMULA 1

It’s all in the name as Renault’s Formula 1 team will take the name of Alpine for the 2021 season from Renault F1 to Alpine F1, putting one of rallying’s most legendary marques at the top table of circuit racing.

A symbol of sporting prowess, elegance and agility, Alpine was born out of racing and has achieved multiple successes in endurance racing and rallying. It now continues to develop as it enters its name in the Formula 1 World Championship.

When it comes to Formula 1, Renault are clearly here to stay. Not only will they race under a new name, they will also race in new colours. A promotional image released by Groupe Renault previews a car finished predominantly in Alpine’s signature blue with the rear in red and white, likely to reflect the French flag.

In a statement, Renault said that entering F1 is a key step to accelerating the development and influence of the brand.

Under the guidance of group Renault’s new CEO,Luca de Meo, Alpine will be made a key pillar of Renault alongside the Renault and Dacia brands. He quotes, “By introducing Alpine, a symbol of French excellence, to the most prestigious of the world’s automotives disciplines, we are continuing the adventure of manufacturers in a renewed sport.”

The F1 team will continue to be headed by Cyril Abiteboul, who recently took responsibility for the full Alpine brand as part of a major Group Renault reorganisation. He said that Alpine “brings a new meaning, new values and colours to the paddock” and further adds; “This change comes at a key moment in the trajectory of the team and the sport. Alpine brings a new meaning, new values and colours to the paddock with the spirit of competition from other worlds and French creative agility.”

All-in-all, this move brings a dream brand alongside the biggest names which can only result in spectacular car races being made and followed by racing enthusiasts.

Alpine has its place in Formula 1 and will continue to wave the flag to challenge victory, cementing its place in pole-position.
