Used Alpine A110

Alpine has more than 60 years’ worth of manufacturing experience, during which time it has created generations of high-performance cars for the race track and desirable sports cars for the road. Here at Glyn Hopkin, we stock thousands of high-quality used cars, including a number of examples produced by this outstanding French marque.

The Alpine A110 is an exemplary sports car: high on style, light on weight and super-fast; it’s extremely fun to drive and very agile. Despite its straight-line prowess, it's actually rather economical to run and, as far as sports cars go, it delivers welcome levels of comfort.

The A110 first appeared in 1963 and was produced until 1977. Exactly four decades later, the car was revived, looking very much like its predecessor while benefiting from a wholly contemporary makeover. Today, it retains the classic ‘Berlinetta’ look: a two-door coupé or ‘petit salon’ (little saloon), and the 2017 model represents the current generation. This means that all of our used A110s are the latest versions.

Four trim levels are available: A110, A110 GT and A110 S – and the limited-edition San Remo 73, with entry-level A110 grades coming very well-specified as standard.

For instance, the base A110 model rides on handsome 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels which incorporate black-finished Brembo brake calipers. You’ll also note a striking rear diffuser, and C-pillars which incorporate the French tricolour. The Alpine insignia, meanwhile, can be found on the vehicle’s front wings while the marque’s monogram is situated on front and rear bumpers. Another standout feature is the automobile’s centre-positioned chrome tailpipe.

The car is fitted with a 1.8-litre rear mid-engine which is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. With entry-level models, this four-cylinder powertrain delivers 249bhp at 6,000 rpm and 320Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,800 rpm. This facilitates 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 155mph. It nevertheless returns a noteworthy 42.2mpg while producing CO2 emissions from 152g/km.

If you opt for the GT, S or San Remo 73 trim, the car outputs 296bhp at 6,300 rpm and 340Nm of torque from 2,400 to 6,000 rpm. This enables 0-62mph in just 4.2s – and a potential top speed of 170mph (S grades only).

As is the case with all true coupés, the Alpine A110 is a two-door, two-seat sports car, which means it’s ideal for driving solo or accompanied by a significant other.

A black leather-upholstered cabin is awash with sporty accoutrements. These include Sabelt Sport one-piece bucket seats, a leather steering wheel (complete with aluminium paddle shifters), an aluminium driver’s footrest and stainless steel door sills. The vehicle’s mostly black interior aesthetic is further offset by contrast grey stitching (blue, orange or red with GT, S or San Remo 73 trims).

Infotainment highlights include a sound system, a touchscreen display, satellite navigation, Android/Apple smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity and USB and AUX inputs. GT, S and San Remo 73 grades, meanwhile, deliver an audio upgrade: a four-speaker, high-fidelity Focal sound system.

While impressively quick off the mark, the A110 is reassuringly very safe. Certainly, this well put-together car benefits from Alpine’s close relationship with Renault, an automaker with an excellent safety record.

Accordingly, the Alpine A110 is ladened with protective tech, including driver and passenger airbags and seatbelt reminders, Hill Start Assist, Anti-lock Braking System and Emergency Brake Assist. Also, all models are equipped with LED headlamps (four of them) and LED taillights, ensuring high-quality front and rear visibility.
