The INFINITI QX50 Concept is an aspired vision for a next-generation premium crossover makes its Asia debut at Auto Shanghai

The QX50 Concept confidently articulates the ‘Powerful Elegance’ appeal, which originates from the brand’s 2016 QX Sport Inspiration. Featuring a ‘cabin-forward’ silhouette with a combination of muscular lines and flowing surfaces to exhibit its purpose as a dynamic and practical crossover. The conceptual forebear could potentially be adapted for an anticipated future production model.

The authentic forms of the ‘driver-centric, passenger-minded’ cabin were designed in conjunction with the exterior appeal. Integrating progressive design with modern craftsmanship, the interior of the QX50 Concept reflects INFINITI’s desire to challenge a more conventional strategy to premium interior design.

Roland Krueger, President of INFINITI Motor Company commented: “INFINITI is pleased to debut an SUV concept in the world’s fastest growing segment, here in the world’s largest market. Chinese customers will appreciate the attributes of the QX50 Concept, including its striking design, versatility and advanced technology. The QX50 production vehicles will feature advanced autonomous drive capability and will be the first vehicle in the world to be powered by an engine that can adjust variable compression ratio on the fly, using our ground-breaking VC-Turbo engine."The latest concept is the next step toward the company’s ‘autonomous drive support’ technologies, this ensures that the driver retains ultimate control over their vehicle – in alignment with INFINITI’s focus on driver engagement. Also hinting a potential application for the brand’s advanced Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) which offers drivers a powertrain promising power and efficiency.
