The Kia Sportage has claimed the title of the UK’s best-selling car in October, further solidifying Kia’s exceptional sales performance for 2024. With Sportage sales leading the way, Kia also reached a significant milestone with over 100,000 units sold year-to-date, positioning it as the fourth most popular brand in the UK and the second most popular for electrified models.
October’s success builds on a remarkable series of record-setting months for Kia, with previous records achieved in February, April, June, July, August, and September. Kia sold a total of 8,516 units in October, surpassing its 2022 record of 100,191 sales, underscoring the strong demand for its diverse model line-up. This sustained growth has led Kia to break records across all quarters of 2024, placing the brand on track for another record-breaking year by the end of Q4.
The Kia Sportage was the UK’s top-selling car in October with 4,533 sales. Now in its fifth generation and celebrating over 30 years in the UK, the Sportage remains Kia’s most popular model both nationally and internationally. With a year-to-date total of 42,115 units sold, the Sportage is currently the second best-selling model of any make in the UK, trailing the top spot by only 350 units with two months left in 2024. Its strong performance positions it as a likely contender for the best-selling model of the year.
Kia’s commitment to electrified models has been central to its success in 2024, with nearly half (49%) of all Kia vehicles sold being either fully electric, plug-in hybrid, or hybrid. This commitment supports Kia’s alignment with the UK’s ZEV mandate for 2024, reinforcing its strong position in the eco-conscious vehicle market.
Kia’s eco line-up includes the fully electric EV3, EV6, EV9, and Niro EV, all of which continue to gain traction. The newly launched EV3, priced from £32,995, has attracted strong interest, boasting a driving range of up to 375 miles on its larger 81.4kWh battery. With more than 1,000 orders already secured, the EV3 is on track to be a standout in Kia’s electric range. Supported by the EV3 Electric Experience events hosted nationwide, the EV3 has received positive reviews and was recently awarded the Electrifying.com Car of the Year for 2024.
Kia’s October success highlights its sustained growth across all segments, marking 2024 as a year of records and achievements for the brand. With consistent demand for models like the Sportage and its eco-focused range, Kia is set to finish the year on a high, reinforcing its position as one of the UK’s leading automotive brands.
