Kia Sportage: ‘Best Family SUV’

For the second year running, the Kia Sportage clinched the coveted 'Best Family SUV' accolade. The judging panel, comprised of the magazine’s team of seasoned road testers, rated it above all competitors in one of the UK's most fiercely contested categories.

Commenting on their decision, the panel remarked: “The Kia Sportage offers a more comfortable ride than its key rivals, yet it instils confidence on winding roads with its strong grip and precise steering. Additionally, its smart and user-friendly interior provides a properly elevated driving position. Regardless of where you're seated in the car, there's ample head and legroom, creating a pleasingly airy feel.”

Introduced in early 2022, the fifth-generation Kia Sportage previously clinched the 'Best Family SUV' award from What Car? in 2023. Last year, it emerged as the UK’s fourth best-selling car overall, with 36,135 units finding homes with British buyers. Available in a wide array of petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options, the Sportage starts from £29,375 on-the-road.

Kia EV6: ‘Best Family Electric SUV’

Two years after clinching What Car?’s prestigious overall ‘Car of the Year’ award, the Kia EV6 continues to be regarded as the benchmark for electric vehicles in its class. The vehicle has secured the 2024 ‘Best Family Electric SUV’ award, triumphing over numerous newcomers in an increasingly competitive segment.

The judging panel remarked: “Two years on from being crowned What Car? Car of the Year, the Kia EV6 maintains its dominance by seamlessly combining an impressive battery range, rapid charging capabilities, excellent ride and handling, and abundant features at a compelling price point, outshining its rivals. Despite its sleek design, it remains a practical choice, offering ample space both in the front and rear, along with a generously sized boot.”

Priced from £45,275 on-the-road, the EV6 boasts a driving range of up to 328 miles as per the WLTP ‘combined’ test cycle*. Drivers can select from rear- or all-wheel drive models, along with the high-performance EV6 GT variant, capable of accelerating from 0-to-62mph in a mere 3.5 seconds. With over 6,000 units sold in the UK in 2023, the EV6 continues to excel in the nation’s expanding EV market.

Kia EV9: ‘Best Electric 7-Seater’

The recently launched Kia EV9, which has been available for purchase in the UK since early January 2024, clinched the esteemed ‘Best Electric 7-Seater’ award. A subdivision of the ‘Best 7-Seater’ category, the EV9 garnered praise from judges for its prowess and competitive pricing compared to its counterparts: “While most seven-seat electric SUVs are either exorbitantly priced or lack practicality, the Kia EV9 stands out by providing comfortable seating for seven adults within a package that, while not inexpensive, offers good value compared to rivals. With an impressive official range, the EV9 is well-equipped to handle long journeys without the hassle of frequent charging stops.”

Available for order across the UK, the EV9 starts from £64,995 on-the-road, boasting a wide array of features, a striking contemporary design, and Kia's latest EV technology. The rear-wheel drive EV9 ‘Air’ can travel up to 349 miles on a single charge* (WLTP ‘combined’ cycle), while the all-wheel drive ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’ models offer a range of up to 313 miles on a single charge. Thanks to its 800-volt charging capability, the EV9 can rapidly recharge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 24 minutes, harnessing high DC power for efficient charging.
