Kia Motability – How Does it Work? As one of the leading Kia dealerships in the south-east of England, we prioritise customer care and will help you find the right Kia Motability lease plan for your lifestyle. Whether you’re looking for a compact city runner like the Kia Picanto or something for the whole family such as the muscular Kia Stonic, you won’t be short of choice. The Motability Finance Scheme essentially allows those with a disability to exchange their mobility allowance for a brand-new car. Simply use all, or part, of your allowance to lease a beautifully crafted, powerful and technology advanced Kia over three years, or five for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs). We’ll organise any modifications that need to be made and will provide servicing for the model if it is required. With Motability, all your running costs are included too, plus insurance and breakdown cover, so you can enjoy a hassle-free driving experience.
Am I Eligible - for the Kia Motability Scheme? Motability eligibility is necessary to ensure those who need it can exchange their mobility allowance to lease a new Kia model. You could join the Scheme if you receive one of the following allowances and have at least 12 months’ award length remaining:

✔ Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance

✔ Enhance Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment

✔ War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)

✔ Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

Questions & Answers

How does the Motability Scheme work?

Close

Those eligible can exchange their mobility allowance for a new Kia model. Adaptations can be made and running costs such as insurance, maintenance and breakdown recovery are included in the lease cost. This means you just have to pay for fuel. At the end of the lease period, you simply return your vehicle and choose a new Kia model.

How do I know if I’m eligible for Kia Motability?

Close

To be eligible for Kia Motability, you must receive one of the following allowances and have 12 months remaining on your reward:

✔Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC of DLA)

✔Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC of PIP)

✔War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)

✔Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

How much will a new Kia cost me per week?

Close

There are three price band options available for you to choose from.

  1. Cars that cost less than your weekly mobility allowance, so you can keep the difference.
  2. Cars that cost exactly the same as your allowance.
  3. Cars that cost the same as your allowance, plus a one-off Advance Payment.

Can I get a car on the Motability Scheme even if I don’t drive?

Close

Yes. The insurance with your Kia Motability lease is for up to two named drivers.

What about PIP reassessments?

Close

If you're currently in receipt of the HRMC of DLA and are invited for a reassessment, as long as you're successful in your application for the ERMC of PIP, you will still be eligible to apply to join the Motability Scheme.

If your allowance ended during your lease, we would offer you the chance to buy the Kia you’ve been driving, or you could return it with no further payments to make.

If that's the case, you may also be entitled to a £250 Return to Dealer payment.

Can I trade in the car I have now against a new one?

Close

You can trade in your privately owned car at most dealerships which could help finance an Advance Payment or optional extras for your new car.

What if I need adaptations?

Close

If the Kia you choose requires adaptations, we’ll do the hard work for you. Our expert Motability Scheme will arrange all the necessary adaptations from driving controls to hoists for wheelchair users, so that your car is fully suited to your needs. In many instances, adaptations won’t affect how other named drivers use the vehicle.

Will I definitely be able to get the car I need?

Close

We offer the latest Kia models as well as a wide range of adaptations to meet your requirements. Our expert team will work with you to ensure you’re satisfied.

I’m over 65, can I still join the Motability Scheme?

Close

Of course. So long as you have 12 months remaining on your mobility allowance.

What if I’m family, a friend, or a carer?

Close

We include insurance for up to two named drivers on the lease to ensure the Motability Scheme is as convenient as possible.
