The order books have officially opened on the all-new Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, allowing excited customers to finally get their name on the list to be amongst the first to own Alfa's latest addition.
The 4C Spider has been constructed on an ultra-lightweight carbon fibre monocoque, much like the 4C coupe, with only tiny enhancements to the structure carried out in the transition from Coupe to Spider. A new aluminium rollover structure, a specially developed carbon fibre windscreen frame and an engine compartment cross-member built from high strength steel are some of the big differences between the coupe and the all new Spider.
The exterior design sees very distinctive buttresses implemented at the rear as well as a new engine cover with three heat extractors and a well designed rear spoiler. The front end also receives some significant changes, with new, covered, projector-style Xenon headlamps fitted as standard on the Spider. A number of new wheel designs are also available, ranging from 17/18-inch to 18/19-inch sizes in either a silver or black finish.
Alfa Romeo has paid particular attention to the aerodynamics, reducing wind and noise intrusion whether you chose carbon fibre hard top, or opted for the soft cloth roof.
The interior has been created to provide the driver with a relaxing and stylish in car experience and a new Alpine head unit and standard Alfa Hi-Fi sound system provide improved audio quality, usability as well as device connectivity. A full leather interior with accent stitching and matching door panels will be optional, offered later in the year.
The 4C Spider is powered by an all-aluminium 1750 TBi engine that produces 240bhp with 258lb.-ft of torque, powering it to a top speed of 160MPH. It also has a 0-62mph time of less than 4.5 seconds, generating the same 1.1g of lateral acceleration and 1.25g of braking deceleration of the Coupe.Pricing for the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider begins from £59,000 OTR with an upgraded audio system, luxury floor mats, glove compartment with leather cover, car cover and a care kit. Parking sensors and cruise control are available as free options.
