The OMODA 9 SHS has been named Best Family Plug-in Hybrid Car 2026 by The Car Expert, recognising its impressive electric range, family-friendly space, advanced technology and long-distance performance.
The award places OMODA’s flagship SUV among the leading plug-in hybrid family cars available to UK drivers.
The Car Expert’s awards combine expert analysis with objective vehicle data to evaluate the areas that matter most to car buyers.
The OMODA 9 was praised for its ability to complete many everyday journeys using electric power while retaining the flexibility of a petrol engine for longer trips. Its Super Hybrid System offers up to 93 miles of electric-only range, allowing many commutes, school runs and local journeys to be completed without using the petrol engine.
Unlike many conventional plug-in hybrids, the OMODA 9 also supports rapid charging, helping drivers replenish the battery more conveniently during longer journeys.
Inside, the OMODA 9 provides a spacious and technology-rich environment for drivers and passengers.
Its equipment includes heated and ventilated seating, a panoramic glass roof, a comprehensive infotainment system, a head-up display, a SONY audio system, wireless smartphone connectivity and a 540-degree panoramic camera.
A generous luggage area and comfortable rear seating add to its family credentials, while the refined hybrid system is designed to deliver smooth and quiet progress in both electric and petrol-powered driving.
The OMODA 9’s Super Hybrid System combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with electric motors to produce up to 449 PS and 700 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0–62mph in approximately 4.9 seconds while offering a combined driving range of more than 700 miles.
Its long-distance capability was demonstrated during a nine-country, 730-mile European journey completed using a single battery charge and one tank of fuel.
The OMODA 9 has also achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, providing additional reassurance for families.
Every new OMODA 9 is supported by a seven-year or 100,000-mile vehicle warranty, whichever comes first, alongside eight-year battery cover.
