The Honda HR-V has been voted by European auto jury Autobest as a finalist in the “Best Buy Car of Europe in 2016” award.
The HR-V will now progress to the final testing session where it will compete against for other finalists at Navak proving ground in Belgrade, Serbia. This is an exciting time for the Japanese brand as this is the first time they have secured a place as a finalist.
The Autobest organisation is composed of 26 of the most influential motoring writers, representing Europe. The award seeks to identify the new car that provides the best overall offer for a broad range of European customers. Areas of particular importance the jury will be judging on are: pricing, flexibility, design, connectivity and the availability of spare parts and service items. However, to be eligible for the competition, vehicles should be available from less than €20,000.
This nomination is just the latest in a successful launch year for Honda’s new crossover. Earlier in 2015, the new HR-V was voted most anticipated car of the year by readers of the UK’s What Car? magazine. In addition, after being on sale for just six weeks across Europe, Honda received over 6,000 confirmed customer orders.
Autobest Founder and Chairman, Dan Vardie said that “the new HR-V impressed jurors with its interior versatility, new design and technology features” and that they “look forward to putting the car through its paces” at the competition next year.
