Hot Hatch Winner At Scottish Car Of The Year Awards: Civic Type R

Honda’s Civic Type R came out on top for the hot hatch category at the 2015 Scottish Car of the Year Awards. With its new 2.0-litre VTEC TURBO engine, advanced new suspension systems and alluring looks, it comes as no surprise that the judges were impressed with all aspects the new Civic Type R offers.

Collecting the trophy at the glittering awards ceremony in Edinburgh was Double British Touring Car champion and fellow Scot Gordon Shedden, who drove the Honda Yuasa Racing Civic Type R to victory earlier this year.

Alisdair Suttie, President of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, said that the Civic Type R won because it “shows what’s possible with a hot hatch, pushing the boundaries with more than 300bhp through the front wheels yet it remains easy and civilised to drive in daily use.”

Philip Crossman, Managing Director, Honda (UK), was extremely pleased with the award mentioning that he was “proud” of what the brand has achieved with the Civic Type R and that being recognised by industry experts is “very rewarding.”

Known as a ‘race car for the road’, the all-new British built Honda Civic Type R is powered by the most extreme and high-performing Type R engine ever built. The direct-injected turbocharged 2.0-litre VTEC TURBO petrol engine delivers first-class power, torque and performance with a peak power output of 310 PS at 6,500 rpm, and peak torque of 400 Nm at 2,500 rpm – both higher than for any previous Honda Civic Type R model.

The Honda Civic Type R is available at Glyn Hopkin from only £299 per month. For more information and to arrange your test drive, visit our Honda dealerships in Chelmsford, Colchester and Romford, or contact us using the buttons above.
