Questions & Answers

How does the Motability Scheme work?

The Motability Scheme allows those in receipt of a mobility allowance to lease a brand-new Dacia vehicle that can be fully adapted to their needs. Other essential costs such as insurance, maintenance and breakdown cover are also included in the lease fee. At the end of the lease period, those eligible can then gain access to a new model.

How do I know if I'm eligible for the Dacia Motability?

To be eligible for Dacia Motability you must have been awarded one of the following allowances and have 12 months remaining on your allowance.

  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC of DLA)
  • Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC of PIP)
  • War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

How much will a new Dacia cost me per week?

The type of lease you go for will depend on the type of vehicle you want to drive and how much you want to spend. There are three different price options.

  1. Cars that cost less than your weekly mobility allowance, so you can keep the difference.
  2. Cars that cost exactly the same as your allowance.
  3. Cars that cost the same as your allowance, plus a one-off Advance Payment.

Can I get a car on the Motability Scheme even if I don't drive?

Joining the Motability Scheme if you don’t drive is easy as up to two named drivers are allowed on the lease. This means friends, relatives and carers can help you stay mobile.

What about PIP reassessments?

If you're currently in receipt of the HRMC of DLA and are invited for a reassessment, as long as you're successful in your application for the ERMC of PIP, you will still be eligible to apply to join the Motability Scheme.

If your allowance ended during your lease, we would offer you the chance to buy the Kia you’ve been driving, or you could return it with no further payments to make.

If that's the case, you may also be entitled to a £250 Return to Dealer payment.

Can I trade in the car I have now against a new one?

You can trade in your privately owned car at most dealerships which could help finance an Advance Payment or optional extras for your new car.

What if I need adaptations?

If you see a Dacia you like and feel you could benefit from some of the many adaptations available, speak to our expert Motability team. We’ll run through the options in detail and arrange any vehicle alterations for you.

Will I definitely be able to get the car I need?

With a wide range of modern, technology advanced and powerful Dacia models available as part of the Motability Scheme, you’re sure to find a car that ticks all boxes.

I'm over 65, can I still join the Motability Scheme?

Yes. So long as you meet the eligibility criteria with regards to receiving a mobility allowance.

What if I'm family, a friend or carer?

The Motability Scheme is designed to be as flexible as possible. That’s why we include insurance for up to two named drivers on the lease. This makes it easy for family, friends and carers to use the lease vehicle.
