ABARTH GOES ELECTRIC

It seems the future of Abarth is electric as an all-new, all-electric Abarth 500 is spotted in testing.

There’s an imminent big reveal, rumoured to be around the 22nd November and will mark the beginning of something exciting for Abarth.

Although currently heavily disguised in camouflage, this new Abarth EV is expected to adhere to Abarth’s typically eye-catching design. At the front it looks to sport a redesigned bumper that juts out further than the one on the standard Fiat 500. The side mouldings are likely to house a wider track, coupled with large wheel haunches to give this electric hot hatch a thoroughly more aggressive stance.

At the rear of the vehicle, even though still under wraps, it is apparent there is a huge roof spoiler, which could gain the same manual adjustability as seen on the current Abarth hot hatch. Bespoke alloy wheels are looking almost certain to be a feature.

Performance details are yet to be released but it is highly likely to expect it to comfortably beat the fastest version of the Fiat 500.

Brand boss and CEO, Olivier Francois has commented: “Abarth will retain its wild styling cues for its electric cars, its looks are the same. We needed to be a little more extrovert”. He added that final test drives were under way ahead of official confirmation of the car. “It’s going to be fantastic; the sound is going to be very interesting”.

All that remains to be said is, steal yourself for the big reveal.
