The L200 Series 5 has a lot to live up to, as the previous generation Series 4 won more awards than all of its rivals put together and outsold all other pick-ups.
Inside, the new Mitsubishi L200 Series 5 has class-leading legroom, with a 25 degree recline that creates a comfortable space for up to five passengers. The interior space has also increased, giving room for larger front seats which have new, more comfortable seats with memory foam. The standard technology is class leading, with new dual-zone climate control and improved sound insulation.
The L200 Series 5 has been built from high-tensile steel, which has increased its strength without increasing its overall weight. The unique 'J' curve in the body design has created additional space inside the cabin, as well as allowing for improved off-road ability.
With a fuel economy of up to 42.8 MPG on the Combined Cycle, the all-new L200 uses up to 47% less fuel than any other pick up. Plus, it has the lowest emissions (just 169 g/km) as well as the longest range of up to 685 miles on a full tank of fuel.
This is all thanks to Mitsubishi's new MIVEC turbo diesel engine, which uses the latest technologies for better combustion - and is the first pick-up in the world with a lightweight, all-aluminium engine! The new MIVEC engine is offered with either a new six-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission.
It's more powerful than the outgoing engine, offering up to 178BHP and 430Nm of torque at 2,500 RPM. This can power the all-new L200 to 62mph in 10.4 seconds - 2 seconds quicker than the outgoing Series 4 model! .
The new Mitsubishi L200 Series 5 has a compact wheelbase, for a best-in-class turning radius of 5.9 metres and steering that can go from lock to lock in 3.8 turns.
The suspension has been thoroughly revised, now with six shock absorbing body mounts that are double the size of those in the L200 Series 4 model - for an incredibly comfortable and refined ride. The front suspension has stiffer front springs, a larger suspension stabiliser bar, improved damping, and an increased leaf spring suspension.
Other areas of improvement include less body roll and greater torsional rigidity, as well as improved safety features. The new Mitsubishi L200 Series 5 incorporates Mitsubishi's Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution, and has been fitted with seven airbags, Active Stability and Traction Control to prevent wheel slip, and a retracting steering wheel
The L200 Series 5 has an incredible load bed capacity and a full towing capacity of 4.1 tonnes.
