Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) is Chery's advanced plug in hybrid powertrain system. It combines a turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and a rechargeable battery, allowing you to drive on pure electric power for short journeys and switch seamlessly to hybrid mode when you need to go further.
In simple terms, it gives you the smooth, quiet feel of an electric car for everyday driving, with the peace of mind of a petrol engine for longer trips. You get the best of both worlds without having to worry about range.
The system is built around three core components that work together.
At the heart of CSH sits a 1.5 litre TGDI turbocharged direct injection petrol engine, achieving an impressive 44.5% thermal efficiency. That means more of the fuel's energy is converted into power rather than wasted as heat, making it one of the most efficient engines in production today. Chery has won China's Top Ten Engines award 11 times and holds over 2,000 engine patents.
Chery's Stepless Super Hybrid DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) achieves an industry leading 98.5% EV transmission efficiency. The three speed system manages the flow of power between the engine, motor and wheels, ensuring smooth, responsive acceleration whether you are pulling away from traffic lights or joining a motorway.
A lithium iron phosphate battery powers the electric motor and can be charged from 30 to 80% in as little as 20 minutes using a rapid charger. The battery is IP68 rated, meaning it is dustproof and waterproof, and has been tested in a 1 metre deep water immersion for 48 hours without affecting operation. Chery's unique PSS smart switch technology can disconnect the battery in just 2 milliseconds for added safety.
