Coming Soon to Glyn Hopkin: The Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid

The new Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid from Chery is arriving in the UK - and it promises to shake up the large-SUV market with a compelling mix of hybrid performance, spacious practicality and premium features. Here’s what we know so far about this seven-seater SUV that’s set to go on sale soon.

Powertrain & Performance: Hybrid Meets Muscle

  • The Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid uses Chery’s “Super Hybrid (CSH)” plug-in hybrid powertrain. Under the skin: a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, twin electric motors, a 34.5 kWh (or 34.46 kWh) battery pack and a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
  • On electric power alone it offers up to 91 miles (WLTP) of range — making it, by claims, the longest-range plug-in hybrid on sale in its class in the UK.
  • Combined with petrol, the total range surpasses 650 miles — a big tick for long-distance families or frequent road-trip drivers.
  • Output is generous: up to 428 PS (or 422 bhp / 428 hp) and around 580 Nm torque depending on spec.
  • Performance is strong: 0–62 mph in about 5.4 seconds — sports-car pace from a seven-seater SUV.
  • All-wheel drive is standard, giving confidence across weather and road conditions.

Interior, Comfort & Practicality: Seven Seats + Premium Feel

  • The Tiggo 9 comes as a 7-seater as standard.
  • Boot space is impressive: with seats up, a healthy amount; folding the third row gives 819 litres, and folding both the second and third rows expands capacity to up to 2,021 litres — great for luggage, gear or big loads.
  • The second row is electrically sliding and reclining, easing access to the third row and offering flexibility between passenger space and cargo.
  • Interior materials and finish lean upscale: expect leather or suede-like surfaces, wood-grain and premium trims.
  • Onboard tech and comfort: a large 15.6-inch touchscreen, digital driver display, heated/ventilated/massaging front seats, wireless phone charging, and more comfort-oriented features baked in.

For families, long-distance travellers or anyone wanting SUV utility without losing comfort, the Tiggo 9 delivers a good balance of space, convenience and premium touches.

Technology & Convenience: Built for Modern Lifestyles

  • Rapid DC charging up to 71 kW — 30% to 80% in roughly 18 minutes — gets you back on the road fast.
  • Support for Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) lets you use the car battery to power external devices (e.g. laptops, camping gear) — a nice bonus for road trips, outdoor adventures or work on the go.
  • Infotainment and convenience: high-speed touchscreen, virtual assistant, and a comprehensive suite of safety and driver-assist features in the top-trim “Summit”.

In short — it’s not just strong on power and space, but designed to be practical, flexible and modern day–to–day friendly.

UK Launch, Price & Who It’s For

  • The Tiggo 9 is priced from £43,105 (OTR) in the UK.
  • Pre-orders are already open; customer deliveries are expected to start December 2025.
  • It arrives in one trim: the high-spec “Summit” — so buyers get the full suite of features and comfort without needing to option-up.

Who this suits: families needing a practical 7-seater with generous storage and comfort, commuters wanting hybrid efficiency + EV range, SUV lovers who want performance without sacrificing economy, and tech-savvy drivers drawn to modern features on a value-oriented budget.
