Abarth launch new limited edition 695 Biposto Record

Abarth has just announced a new limited edition version of their striking 695 Biposto – the Record, which is now on sale from £36,610 OTR.

However, if you want one you’ll have to be quick as only 133 examples of the stunning model will be made for worldwide distribution. Exclusively for the Biposto Record is a ‘Modena Yellow’ finish embellished with ‘Tar Cold Grey’ trims, as well as the ‘695 Record’ badge on the side and aluminium bonnet as standard.

This limited edition also features 18-inch alloy wheels, large Brembo brakes and a lively Akrapovic exhaust. Inside, a special instrument panel animation can be found along with Sabelt carbon shell seats, four point seatbelts, a cargo net and a unique numbered plate for extra edge.

The 695 Biposto Record is powered by the same 190hp 1.4-litre Turbo T-Jet 16-valve engine found in the sporting two-seat Abarth 695 Biposto. However, this limited edition model has better weight-to-power ratio weighing in at only 997 kilograms. In addition, it has the best acceleration in its category accelerating from 0-62mph in a rapid 5.9 seconds and provides a top speed of up to 143 mph. Peak power is delivered at 5500 rpm and top torque is 250 Nm at 3000 rpm. Securing performance is a mechanical self-locking differential combined with a manual synchromesh gearbox.

The new Abarth 695 Biposto Record celebrates a significant occasion 50 years ago, when aged 57, Carlo Abarth broke a new acceleration record in a Class G car, at the Monza race track. After an unsuccessful search to find the right driver, Carlo decided to lose 30 kilograms in weight so that he could slip into the tight cockpit himself! However, his efforts were rewarded in October 1965 where Fiat Abarth managed to break the acceleration record over a quarter of a mile and 500 metre distances with its Class G 105 HP vehicle.

When talking about the exciting new edition, Gerry Southerington, Brand Manager of Abarth UK said that the "Modena Yellow Colour, awesome performance, the standard equipment, the history, and the fact only 133 examples will be made” are enough reasons for "anyone to own a 695 Biposto." He further went on to say that he was very confident the new model would do well as it ‘represents a very desirable package’ especially for Abarth enthusiasts.
