Production of an all-new compact and lightweight 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine has started at Nissan’s state-of-the-art engine manufacturing facility in Japan. This engine will be offered exclusively on Infiniti vehicles.
The new V6 engine is the lightest, most powerful, cleanest and most fuel-efficient V6 engine that an Infiniti has ever had delivering the ultimate combination of drivability, efficiency and performance. It has been developed to deliver optimal power and torque for an engine of its size, along with optimised fuel efficiency.
The 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine will be available in two performance levels – 304 or 405 PS but Europe will only be offered the higher output version. This engine belongs to the exclusive VR-series powertrain family and was created through extensive in-house experience of six-cylinder powertrain development and is backed up by a strong history of V6 engines.
The first application of this VR30 engine will be in the 2016 Infiniti Q50 sports saloon.Along with a host of technology upgrades, Q50 will provide more powerful performance and a more rewarding drive.
The engine will also be available in the all-new Q60 sports coupe which was recently debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. Made for performance, and boasting the advanced technology of V6 engine, the Q60 will play an important role in the sports coupe segment.
