Introducing the new Infiniti QX30: a premium crossover

Taking centre stage for Infiniti at the Los Angeles Motor and Guangzhou Motor Show was the new Infiniti QX30. Described as being created for “a new generation of premium buyers” this new premium crossover aims to please in all areas.

Exterior

The new QX30 comes with a bold and powerful visual style. In sync with the Q30, the QX30 is encased by dramatic curves and lines that evolve into new dynamic shapes for a striking road presence. The front fascia features a new bumper, a double-arch grille with a 3D pattern and flowing headlamps for further appeal. High quality bodywork with satin chrome inserts offers a premium finish.

The elevated ride height, low-slung roof line and crossover appearance give the new QX30 a powerful visual impact. Overall height stands at 1,530mm (with standard roof rails) which is a higher ride height compared to other crossovers in the market. Its unique stance, along with an all-wheel drive system, means the new QX30 is confident in any driving condition.

Interior

The bold approach Infiniti has taken to design continues inside the QX30, with asymmetric surfaces, and a modern, expressive interior. Through the cabin wave shapes and dynamic lines that twist apart and flow away from the driver can be found along with premium materials to create a luxurious cabin. A custom-designed QX30 trim delivers a personalised interior design. As standard, the crossover comes with high-quality black cloth upholstery that can also be upgraded to black or beige Nappa leather if desired.

Comfort and refinement is also central to the new QX30’s interior. First-class comfort is promised thanks to an advanced seat design which uses Infiniti’s intelligent ‘spinal support’ research. These seats have been specially engineered to match the curvature of a person’s spine, which results in consistent spinal support. Providing further ease is the wider fitting shape and soft seat cushion as well as the QX30’s exceptional cabin quietness. The extensive application of sound-absorbent materials reduces the interruption of unwanted noise in the cabin, while Active Noise Cancellation further helps by emitting sound waves from the door speakers to cancel out any unwanted powertrain noise.

Engine and Performance

The QX30 has been engineered to deliver a faultless driving experience. Compared to the Q30, the QX30’s chassis has been adapted with its own unique settings for a secure ride and confident handling. Its springs and rear anti-roll bar are stiffer, while the slightly firmer suspension helps to counteract the forceful effects of a higher centre of gravity. These modifications to the chassis provide an overall efficient drive for a range of road surfaces.

Also equipped on the new QX30 is intelligent all-wheel drive. This innovative system allows the drivetrain to send up to 50% of the engine’s power and torque to the rear axle, enabling traction on slippery surfaces and providing the driver with confidence and control when driving. Another standard feature is the availability of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission system. The dual-clutch smartly pre-selects gears so the next shift is always ready to go, while manual mode gives driver control to change gears when required.

The QX30 will be available with both diesel and petrol engines dependent on the market, with specific details available closer to the launch date.

Safety and Technology

With an array of safety and hazard avoidance technologies on offer, you can be assured that the new QX30 will be among the safest cars in its class.

Thanks to an Around View Monitor with moving object detection and clever Parking Assist, the new QX30 is incredibly easy to park. Along with this as standard, is Intelligent Cruise Control offering a seamless driving experience.

Updated for the QX30 is Infiniti’s trademark InTouch infotainment system which now includes finger touch and swipe control through a seven-inch touchscreen human machine interface. This smart system has voice recognition, enabling the driver to control audio and navigation by voice.
