Glyn Hopkin Infiniti Centre St Albans begins strong 2016 with first deliveries of Q30 Premium Compact

Glyn Hopkin Infiniti Centre St Albans is poised for a record year in 2016, aided this month by the first customer deliveries of the widely anticipated all-new Q30 premium compact hatchback.

The new model represents Infiniti’s first entry into the fast-growing premium compact segment. Strong initial interest at Glyn Hopkins Infiniti Centre St Albans suggests the Q30 is set to bring further impetus to Infiniti’s recent rapid UK growth.

The Q30 offers a comprehensive technology package that enhances the car’s driving experience while providing maximum safety to all occupants. In recognition of Infiniti’s advanced safety approach, the Q30 has just been awarded best-in-class ‘small family car’ 2015 by independent vehicle safety organisation, Euro NCAP. With a host of state-of-the-art safety systems, the Q30 delivered outstanding results in all test areas, such as crash test performance as well as child and pedestrian protection. In the latter category the active bonnet helped the Q30 gain results that were amongst the best of the cars tested in 2015.

The Q30’s daring shape was brought into sharp focus last week when Infiniti revealed a Q30 with a difference at the opening of the 2016 London Art Fair at the Islington Business Centre. With the help of contemporary artist Rachel Ducker, renowned for her human-like figures, 48,000 copper tacks have been painstakingly adhered to half of the Q30’s bodywork, creating a striking ‘carpet like’ appearance that further highlights the vehicle’s strong and dynamic bodylines.

New augmented reality app

To coincide with the first customer deliveries, Infiniti has launched a new configuration app for the Q30 that makes use of augmented reality technology. The app allows the user to explore two grades – Premium Tech and Sport – and the option to open the door to ‘your’ Infiniti Q30. By zooming in on the open door, users can enjoy a 360° view of the interior and also change the trim. Infiniti is offering a range of great prices to those who capture their customised, augmented reality Q30 in unusual settings. Every two weeks there will be a new theme and a new chance to win for those who upload a photo of their design to Instagram with #Q30Challenges. The Infiniti Q30 Augmented Reality App can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.

Pricing for the British-built hatchback starts from £20,550 for the petrol version and from £21,500 for the diesel, or from £269* per month with Infiniti St Albans.

Fraser Cohen, Managing Director of Glyn Hopkin, commented: “We are looking ahead to a host of exciting new products that will be arriving over the next 12 months. With strong interest for the Q30 and models like the stunning Q60 coupe just around the corner, it’s going to be another very exciting year for the Brand and us here at Infiniti Centre St Albans.”

Infiniti expanding rapidly

2016 represents the start of a busy time for Infiniti following a £250 million investment in the newly-built Infiniti production centre in Sunderland, which has created more than 300 jobs. The QX30, an active crossover, will soon follow the Q30 down the Sunderland production line in early spring, with customer deliveries due to start soon after.

The Infiniti Q50 has been the backbone of Infiniti’s recent sales success with 70 percent of all sales in the UK attributed to the mid-sized saloon. Total sales of all models increased by over 60 percent compared to 2014 with continuous growth month by month up until December. An all-time high of 7,000 vehicles sold in Western Europe represents an increase of 45 percent from 2014 across the entire region.
