New Fiat 500 voted City Car of the Year

The new Fiat 500 has been voted by readers of BusinessCar as the City Car of the Year for 2016. The BusinessCar Awards are the only UK automotive awards decided entirely by readership, with winners being chosen by the people who rely on their vehicles for day-to-day business life. They are also a reflection of the market at large and of the products and services that best meet the needs of the business sector.

When speaking about the win for the new Fiat 500, BusinessCar Editor, Paul Barker said: “The Fiat 500 is an iconic city car that manages to combine style and fun with benefits of impressive running cost and residual values.” He further went on to explain that to succeed in the business sector there needs to be a case for “head as well as heart” and with the Fiat 500 amassing 28% of the votes in the city car category readers obviously feel it is “well capable of making the case to both.”

Fiat also announced after the votes closed for the BusinessCar awards that they are introducing two new business-friendly versions of the New Fiat 500 to their range. This includes a Fiat 500 1.3 MultiJet II 95hp which is ideal for drivers with long commutes into congested cities as well as those looking for lower tax liabilities and minimal running costs without sacrificing driving pleasure, technology or style. The second new Fiat on offer is a 1.2-litre 69hp ‘Eco’ Pop Star which is equipped with an array of efficiency technologies to reduce its official CO2 emissions from 110g/km to just 99g/km compared to the standard 1.2 69ho Pop Star. This results in free annual road tax bill as well as reducing company car BIK tax liability from 17% to just 14% - and all for a premium of just £100!

After receiving the win, Sebastiano Fedrigo, Country Manager Fiat UK said: “We’re delighted to win the City Car of the Year award in the 2016 BusinessCar Awards because it reflects what the people who use the Fiat 500 day-to-day as part of their businesses really feel about it!” He further went on to say that with the new diesel and ‘Eco’ models now on offer they really will be “blown away” on what the vehicle has to offer.
